Dune is shaping up to be the next big franchise, and now the huge all-star cast is set to be getting even bigger.
Aquaman star Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to join the Denis Villeneuve led science-fiction film. The hulking actor will portray Duncan Idaho, a swordmaster in the house of Atreides. The cast already includes Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, and Zendaya. It seems like everyday another big name is added the cast, which raises expectations even further.
Dune is the first novel in a series of novels by Frank Herbert. Originally published in 1965, the book is set in the distant future, and follows the story of Paul Atreides. His family controls the planet Arrakis, which is home to a valuable resource, and after his family is betrayed by other noble families who want the resources for their own, Atreides leads a rebellions to reclaim what is his. If the film is successful, there are five other Herbert novels that could be adapted as well.
Momoa is currently filming the Apple sci-fi series See, and can still be seen in the big screen in Aquaman and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
