Pride month is well on its way, and one of the world’s biggest LGBTQ activists is preparing to help with the celebrations.
Madonna confirmed yesterday that she will be performing a set on Pride Island as part of New York City’s WorldPride celebration on Sunday, June 30th. The superstar will be taking the stage alongside several other artists on the final day of the event.
Pride Island’s website made the announcement, stating the 60-year-old Material Girl will take the stage for a couple of songs for the final act of the two day celebration. Other artists set to perform include Grace Jones, Teyana Taylor, Kim Petras, Amara La Negra, Johnny Dynell, Abel, Morabito, and Pabllo Vittar.
Madonna took to Instagram to confirm the validity of the announcement. Draped in a rainbow flag, the artist danced on a beach while saying “For once the rumours are true…. Madame ❌ is coming to Pride Island! I’ll be on Pride Island, where I was born!”
Madame X is of course the name of Madonna’s upcoming new album, which has already seem the release of two of the singles off it, “Medellín” and “Crave”. The album is set to be released on June 14th. After the release of the album, Madonna is also going to be heading out on tour, hitting cities across the globe, including New York, Los Angeles, Lisbon, London and Paris.
