It’s been long know that 1987 film The Lost Boys was being prepared as a TV series for the CW, but up until now no one had been cast, and a director hadn’t been hired. That has now changed, and things are starting to look like they will be moving forward rather quickly.
Tyler Posey (who starred in Teen Wolf) and Kiele Sanchez (from Kingdom) have signed on for two of the three central characters. Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) have also signed on for lead roles. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke returns to the vampire genre to direct.
The Lost Boys takes place in Santa Carla, California, and features the story of Lucy (Sanchez) and her two boys Michael (Posey) and Sam (not yet cast) who move there. It’s Lucy’s hometown, and she’s hoping to start her life anew after the sudden death of her husband. Unfortunately the town has a dark secret, and the two brothers soon find themselves entangled in the world of the undead.
In the 1987 Joel Schumacher film, Jason Patric, Dianne Wiest, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Kiefer Sutherland starred.
The Lost Boys is expected to be part of The CW’s fall line up, but as of this moment no word has been given exactly when it will premiere.
